Make Building Your Dream Home in Biggleswade a Reality!

Have you ever dreamed of building your own home? Being able to plan, design and achieve a home that truly suits your needs with no compromises? Well now is your chance.

In Biggleswade, as part of the new development on the sought after Saxon Gate development, the developer has released four plots with planning permission to build your own detached home.

Located just over a mile from Biggleswade town centre, which includes shops, pubs and restaurants and a mainline train station with a journey time of just 30 minutes into London Kings Cross, here you get a rural lifestyle with amenities close by. There are a wide range of countryside walks, and whether you visit Jordan's Mill for a cup of tea and some cake, the RSPB reserve in Sandy or the popular Shuttleworth Collection, there is plenty to do.

There are a number of options to consider here with each plot measuring 816 sq.ft, a rear garden and parking for 2 cars.

You could build the three bedroom Birchwood style detached house, perfect for couples and families with its open plan lounge/dining area and French doors to the rear garden, alongside a separate kitchen and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there is an ensuite master bedroom, main bathroom, further double bedroom and a third single bedroom or home office.

Or you could choose Option B which is the same sized house measuring 816 sq.ft providing a kitchen, living room and separate dining room/home office with French doors to the rear garden. Here the first floor offers a more spacious two bedroom option with ensuite master bedroom, main bathroom and a further double bedroom.

There is also opportunity to mix and match your floorplan options e.g., the Option A ground floor, with the Option B first floor.

But what about the ultimate option? You could design your own bespoke home and submit your planning application for planning approval. Once planning is granted an external builder can be appointed and construction can begin on your self-build.

But what are the advantages and disadvantages of a self-build?

Advantages of Self-Build

  • You can build a home to your exact desired specifications in your ideal location.
  • Self-build offers long term financial savings. Although building a home is very expensive, the property's final value will usually be substantially more than the money you have invested.
  • Building your own home is something many dream of and bringing these aspirations to life is hugely satisfying.

Disadvantages of Self-Build

  • Significant financial outlay. Although self-build mortgages can be acquired, there are upfront costs to consider.
  • It can be incredibly time-consuming without expert advice so it’s important to consult a professional.

Satchells can arrange a self-build mortgage or development finance and general advice, project management and architectural advice to assist you throughout the process and where better to build your dream home?

This development is the ideal place with the prefect balance of urban convenience and rural lifestyle while still easily connected by train to London and Cambridge. Call our experienced team on 01462 410394 or email us at salesadmincentre@satchells.co.uk.
